Rahul Gandhi Impresses the U.K doctors with his health plans in India

Rahul Gandhi shared his thoughts on the future health plans for India with the NHS doctors in London. He was addressing a symposium at the Royal society of Medicine this afternoon. He took suggestions from NHS doctors of Indian background who participated in the discussion. He shared his experience of NHS care while he was in London. He went to NHS hospital for a treatment and when enquired about the bill he was told that it was free. Health care in U.K is free for every one and i want it to be the same in India. It needs time and money,he said.

When asked why Congress did not make it happen while it was in power he said India is having a population of 1.3 billion and it is not rich like the European countries. We have done well and still we need improvement, he added.

When qestioned about the poor quality of treatment and lack of trust in the Indian Health care system, he pointed out that the present system in India is centralised and that .We need devolved system with local accountability which we see in U.K.

He welcomed tips and suggestions from NHS doctors of indian origin, which are relevant and affordable in the Indian context which could be incorporated in the party manifesto.

Rahul Gandhi who is in London as the congress President for the first time was not drawn in to the Indian politics -past,present or future.
