Next Sachin Tendulkar? Mumbai boy Prithvi Shaw, 15, scores 546 runs

Mumbai: Following on the footsteps his admirer none other than the legend Sachin Tendulkar, who once stopped to see him bat, 15 years old Prithvi Shaw on Wednesday created a national record by amassing 546 runs, studded with 85 boundaries and five sixes in the inter Harris Shield tournament here. Shaw became the first schoolboy cricketer to hit a 500 plus score in an official inter-school match. Prithvi eclipsed his senior schoolmate and former India opener Wasim Jaffer's nephew Arman's score of 498, which he scored a few years back.

This little master surprised Sachin while playing at Bandra Kurla complex. So impressed was Sachin, who retired from international after playing 200th test last week, that he offered his services as and when he required. Encouraged and enamored by legend’s words, Prithvi is living no stone unturned. There is lot of similarities between Sachin and Prithvi as far as passion for cricket is concerned. Like Sachin Prithvi would too get up at four in the morning to board a train from Thane for Bandra. After hour and half tiring journey he would practice at MIG club.

Soon his hard worked caught eyes of those who matter. In 2010 a management company signed a three lakh contract with him. This year another management company has given him a flat in Santa Cruz where at present he staying. Last year Prithvi was sent to England where he again made a mark. Prithvi scored 1500 runs in “A” league with an average of 85 and also took 65 wickets. Stunned by this little master performance, former England cricketer said he has the talents and capabilities to become the finest batsman of the world. Prithvi has scored four centuries in junior cricket. Prithvi, like this year, had scored 174 in the final of Harris Shield tournament in 2010 and hogged the limelight. The way Prithvi is performing don’t be surprised if dons Indian cap sooner than later.
