Edmonton: A gurdwara was vandalized on Saturday with obscene graffiti spray-painted on its wall by unknown people in Canada's Edmonton city, an official said. "Today we discovered something very deeply saddening to us. Some graffiti was put on the wall of the exterior of our facility by unknown persons," Harman Singh Kandola, chairman of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha's advisory committee was quoted as saying by Global News. He also said the gurdwara in the Mill Woods area has been spray-painted in the past too.
"The gurdwara has a surveillance video that will most likely show the culprit, but we won't be contacting police. People at the temple feel safe and don't feel threatened," Kandola said. "We don't believe that there's any value in prosecuting the individuals involved. Rather, we would like to use this as an opportunity to invite them to the gurdwara - which is a place that is open to all, of any faith and any background," he said. The gurdwara members have already started painting over the words sprayed on the temple wall, he added.
