'Jal' selected for Busan film festival

Mumbai: Actor-turned-director Girish Malik's debut film 'Jal' is all set to have its world premiere at Busan international film festival, which runs from October 3-12. Malik's debut film is among the 12 other entries that will feature in festival's 'New Currents' segment. 'Jal' is based on the universal issue of water scarcity and tells the story of a water diviner (a person who can find water in the desert), Bakka who lives in a remote village in Rann of Kutch.

The film stars Purab H Kohli, Kirti Kulhari, Tannishtha Chatterjee and half-German, half-Russian model & actress Saidah Jules. The film, produced by One World Films Pvt Ltd, has a beautiful music score by Sonu Nigam and Bickram Ghosh. The story is by writer Rakesh Mishra, who has co-written the screenplay with Malik. The director, Girish Malik can be recalled as popular television actor from the days of Banegi Apni Baat & Tara. He has earlier produced & directed some popular TV shows like Rishtey- love stories and Mission Fateh. The film is slated to be released all over India this year after its world premiere at Busan.
