Ellen gives USD 10,000 tips to waitress

New York: Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres gave a generous tip of USD 10,000 to a waitress. The 55-year-old star heard that Sarah Hoidahl had paid for two soldiers' lunch because they were being affected by the US government's shutdown. The chat show host was very touched by Hoidahl's kind gesture, which saw her pay the National Guard soldiers' USD 27.25 lunch bill, that she presented her with a cheque of USD 10,000 on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', reported New York Daily News. Upon receiving the gifts, Hoidahl repeatedly told the presenter, "You're a good person". The US government shut down the first time since 1995-96 earlier this month as the Republican and the Democrats failed to reach an agreement on spending and budget mainly due to their differences over the healthcare reforms, which is popular as Obamacare.
