Gandhi jayanti celebrated in Harrow by mahatma Gandhi Foundation

London: Gandhi jayanthi was celebrated in style in Harrow by the Mahathma gandhi foundation. Almost 1000 people including members of parliament, Mayors, councillors and representatives of prominent cammunity group attended the function. This was the second event in London to comommerate gandhi jayanti. The traditional garlanding of the statue of gandhiji in west London situated in TavistockSquare took place on 2 nd October at 11 am and the deputy high commissioner for India Dr Virander Paul as well as the deputy mayor of Camden council Lazzaro Pietragnoli, addressed the gathering.


The programme in Harrow was addressed by the mayors of harrow and Brent among others. The continued relevance of non violence in resolving disputes and differences between individuals, families, communities,nations was high lighted by the speakers. Gandhi foundation is a well established and well organised NGO in Europe spreading the message of mahatma gandhi overseas.
