Jeremy Corbyn outlines his vision for a better Britain in a better Europe

I attended Jeremy Corbyn’s address on the EU Referendum held at the historic IET London, where the Labour leader, the most honest and transparent Labour leader in recent years, outlined his vision for Europe.

He forcibly but systematically presented his vision for a better Europe where there will be more prosperity for everyone, provided that Europe improves the way it functions.Jeremy started by explaining the various ways in which we benefited from being part of the European Union. His speech summarised the following key factors:

· Over 26 million workers in Britain benefit from being entitled to 28 days of paid leave and a limit to how many hours they can be forced to work;

· Over eight million part-time workers (over six million of whom are women) have equal rights with full-time colleagues;

· Over one million temporary workers have the same rights as permanent workers;

· 340,000 women every year have guaranteed rights to take maternity leave.

Jeremy could not find a single valid point for supporting Brexit. Regarding the refugee crisis, he called for a humanitarian approach. He was more against the unscrupulous employers who indulge in malpractices such as zero-hour contracts. He forcibly argued for closing the loopholes which allow for exploitation of the workforce.

He touched on the need to protect our industries, just as the other countries are doing to protect their own within the European framework. Before he concluded he focused on the need for the countries of Europe to work together to face the challenges of the future:

… membership offers a crucial route to meeting the challenges we face in the 21st century, on climate change, on restraining the power of global corporations and ensuring they pay fair taxes, on tackling cyber-crime and terrorism, on ensuring trade is fair with protections for workers and consumers and in addressing refugee movements.”

In his view there is an overwhelming reason to remain in Europe, and to improve how Europe operates.
